On 7 October 2006, journalist Anna Politkovskaya was murdered outside her Moscow home. Politkovskaya was a fierce critic of the Russian leadership for its undemocratic governance, its settlement of the Chechen-Russian conflict by war, and its inhumane response to terrorist attacks in Chechnya. He has never for a moment given up his struggle for a more democratic country; many believe he has been the victim of political assassination.
Shortly after Anna Politkovskaya's death, Stefano Massini, one of the most important writer of contemporary Italian theatre, wrote a monodrama based on articles and autobiographical notes by the journalist. Politkovskaya's last work, The Russian Diary, was published in Hungary at the end of 2018. Andrea Fullajtár brings to life the determined and courageous journalist, who is still defenceless against the regime, and who speaks sometimes objectively, sometimes with shock, sometimes with humour and irony about what she has experienced and seen.
