The Cherry Orchard is a cruel symphony in twelve movements. It is a symphony about the traumas of the past; about the difficulties and helplessness of the present; about questions of the future, about the end of an era.

"Change is here, it's coming, it's coming closer. And if we don't see it, if we don't have a part in it, what's wrong with that? Others will see it!"

The performance is part of the Budapest Spring Festival, in collaboration with Budapest Brand.

"Tarnóczi brings the story into the present in a matter of moments with the aforementioned few clever gestures. The text is also contemporary, it could be recited in a contemporary garden in an impoverished intellectual society. The dramaturgical solution exaggerates the basic situation, which is that no one wants to face the facts, namely that there is no mercy, that the cherry orchard is going to be auctioned off. What has been is over. Something else will happen, something else will follow. The play is a stark reminder of how much we cling to our own obsessions, how little we see out of our own misery."
