status quo
Status Quo is a sharp and witty satire. It depicts the world as it is – only with the roles reversed. This time, the object of desire – or rather, the victim of discrimination – is not a young woman, but a young man, whilst the various spheres of society are typically run by middle-aged women who use and abuse their power. This inverted world sheds a sharp and humorous light on the social constructs that continue to define how we live. Maja Zade’s play, directed by Tamás Ascher, depicts everyday situations to which we have become so accustomed that we tend to consider their absurdity to be natural.
