Somewhere in the not-too-distant future, in a landscape devastated by natural disasters, communities are forming and competing with one another. Each with their own rituals and their own set of rules. The music of centuries past echoes at once. Queens and their entourages gather. Humans, mythical creatures and extraterrestrials. Who is the strongest? Who is the most beautiful? Who is the most useful? Who will survive? Will they manage to unite in the name of survival?

Be seductive, be repulsive, be complex, be beautiful, be disgusting, be charming, be surprising, be cruel. Be yourself. Or anyone else. Now you can. Now everyone is watching you in this apocalyptic revue.

In the creative process behind Jakab Tarnóczi’s new production, the ensemble of Katona József Theatre is working alongside dancers and drag artists on stage. The production is not being created within a traditional framework; the rehearsal process was preceded by an intensive two-week workshop, during which the participants used the tools of collective dance, movement and the drag* genre to develop their own characters, which then go to battle against one another in a dense, event-like evening.

*The origin of the word ‘drag’ can most likely be traced back to the theatrical tradition in which a male actor plays a female role (‘dressed as a girl’). However, drag can be practised by anyone, regardless of gender, and one can step into the shoes of any persona. The essence lies in self-expression on stage.
