Casimir and Caroline
In the whirlwind of Casimir and Caroline – wherever the story may be set, in 1920s Germany or 2020s Hungary – the characters, drifting to the margins of society, yearn for a better life. They are young, in love, jealous, humiliated, and rebellious. They part ways, meet again, and torment each other. They search for but cannot find their place in a world of material and emotional corruption, fear of an uncertain future, and impossible dreams.
Ödön von Horváth’s play is being staged by Amélie Niermeyer, German opera and theatre director and head of the Bavarian Academy of Performing Arts.
