mitos21

Mitos21 was founded in October 2008 by a group of theatre professionals, who are associated to important public theatre institutions in Europe. Mitos [mítos] is the ancient Greek word for “thread”, and refers primarily to the myth about “Ariadne’s Thread”, which ensures the way out of the labyrinth.

Mitos21 is a network which places the emphasis mainly on the individuals, theatre professionals who are willing to question and reconsider the role, the function and usefulness of great public theatre institutions, as well as of networks, in the framework of contemporary society. The network does not wish to have any official or legal structure and it is coordinated, on a rotating basis, by its members. Mitos21 is solely based on the desire of participating professionals to meet and work together. It is open to collaboration with all like-minded theatre professionals of European theatre, but also to colleagues outside Europe.

One of the network’s main concerns is to promote and facilitate the creation of informal sub-networks of theatre professionals in Europe. Equally, to reinforce the links between artistic creation and contemporary issues both national and global interest.
