szinopszis

1.TÖMEGKATASZTRÓFA

amelyen éppen csak áthalad Kenyeresi Tibor, későbbi főszereplőnk

2.ÚJRAÉLESZTÉS

a mentősök útban a kórház felé megpróbálják újraéleszteni az egyik sérültet, egy fiatal lányt

3.KENYERESI ÉS A PORTÁS

Kenyeresi Tibor megérkezik a kórházba, kapott ugyanis egy értesítést arról, hogy éjjel behozták az anyját és meghalt. Próbálja megtudni a portástól, hogy mi a teendő, de a portás nem tud segíteni, csak az derül ki, hogy magában az intézményben is teljes a káosz. Kenyeresi elindul az udvaron lévő táblán kikeresni, hogy hova kell mennie.

4.KÓRHÁZ SZIMULTÁN

Életkép a kórház aulájában. A balesetben meghalt lányt barátja próbálja a papírokat intézni, hogy megkaphassa lány személyes dolgait. Közben az egyik mentős, aki sokkot kapott elbúcsúzik kollégáitól, mert nem tudja tovább csinálni. Az orvosok és a nővérek nem foglalkoznak a várakozó betegekkel.

5.NAGYVIZIT

Életkép a kórteremben. Az orvoscsoport vizitre jön a betegekhez, de senkinek a problémáját sem veszik komolyan. Van, aki napok óta éhezik, és műtétre vár mivel az orvosa síel. A rezidenseket megpróbálja egy fejvadász külföldre csábítani. Közben fekete alakok jönnek a minisztériumból, hogy felmérjék az épületet az esetleges összevonások miatt. Ennél már csak az kelt nagyobb ijedelmet, hogy az egyik ágyat üresen találják, mert a beteg otthon szül. A fejpénz miatt nem lehet üres ágy, mert akkor leépítenek. A fiatal orvos rosszul lesz, de a főorvos nem veszi komolyan, azt hiszi, csak játssza, hogy megoldja a helyzetet. Az orvos betegjogi képviselőt hív. A kórus elénekli az Alkotmány egészségügyre vonatkozó passzusáról szóló dalt.

6.CITOLÓGIA

A mentőorvos bejön kollégájához, a főorvoshoz a leleteiért. Kiderül, hogy tüdőrákot diagnosztizáltak nála, ami eléggé előrehaladott állapotban van. A főorvos ismerteti a tényeket, próbálja nyugtatni a mentőorvost, de ő még sokkal idegesebb. Végül kiderül, hogy valaha egy pár voltak, van egy közös gyerekük. A főorvos egy nagyobb összeget kér kölcsön, mert problémái adódtak a frankhitel miatt.

7.KENYERESI ÉS A PORTÁS

Kenyeresi visszatér a portáshoz, mert nem találja a táblát. Kiderül, hogy azért, mert lelopták. A portás próbálja elmagyarázni neki, hogy melyik épületbe menjen, de érthetetlen a számozás, az egész rendszer. Kenyeresi azért nekiindul és bolyongani kezd az épületek és emeletek közt.

8.KENYERESI ÉS A NŐVÉREK

Kenyeresi az egyik emeleten végre talál orvosokat és nővéreket, azok viszont nem állnak szóba vele. Közben telefonon is elkezdik hívogatni. Kiderül, hogy ő egy színházrendező, akinek éppen főpróbája van, onnan rohant el a kórházba. Nélküle viszont leáll a produkció. Próbál instrukciókat adni a telefonba, hogy mit próbáljanak (ez meg is jelenik a jelenetben), de csak egyre jobban nyomasztja az asszisztense.

9.MENTŐS MONOLÓG

Kenyeresi az egyik emeleten egy mentőssel találkozik, aki elmondja neki az aznapi sikertelen esetét. Egy terhes nőhöz hívták, akit újra kellett éleszteni, de végül se ő, se a baba nem maradt életben.  

10.BIZOTTSÁGI ÜLÉS

A kórház egyik emeletén politikusok üléseznek. A fiatal orvos próbálja a problémáit elmondani (felszerelés- és munkaerőhiány, külföldre mennek az orvosok), de a politikusok ennek ellenére még el akarnak venni pénzt az egészségügytől, ahogy a kultúrától is. Végül egyikük rosszul lesz, és utolsó tanácsként azt mondja a fiának, hogy ne legyen politikus. Inkább színházi embernek, vagy orvosnak menjen. Akkor inkább orvos – jelenti ki a fiú.

11.NEM TUDOM

A portás egy eltévedt idős néninek próbál segíteni, aki semmire sem tudja a választ. Hol fekszik, ki kezeli, mi a baja, mi a neve? Mindenre csak azt mondja: nem tudom.

12.SZAVAZÁS

Éjjel az orvosok titkos szavazást tartanak arról, hogy kinek adjanak egy kicsivel több morfiumadagot. A szertartás közben a Hippokratészi esküre írt dal szól.

13.PARIZER

A nénihez látogatóba jön a férje, aki most egyedül van otthon. Nehéz egymás nélkül, annyira összeszoktak már. Próbálják a praktikus ügyeket intézni arra az esetre, ha a bácsi egyedül maradna. Dal: „jó, de nem elég jó. Százból ha egyszer jó, az már nagyon jó.”

14.KENYERESI ÉS A HULLAŐR

Kenyeresi eljut a patológiára, ahol szeretné látni az anyját, de ott is kavarodás van az átalakítások miatt. A hullaőr próbálja rábeszélni különböző halottakra, de egyik sem anyja. Ha ott nincs, akkor még az is lehet, hogy él, hogy tévedés volt a hír.

15.FŐPRÓBA-BYE BYE LIFE

Kenyeresi visszatér a színházba, ahol a színészek épp nélküle próbáltak megcsinálni egy jelenetet, ez az előző Haláldal. Kenyeresi azt kéri, hogy a fináléhoz álljanak össze, de a dal közben egyre rosszabbul lesz, végül meghal.

synopsis

1. TRAFFIC PILE-UP

Where Tibor Kenyeresi, our leading character just passes by.

2. RESUSCITATION

On their way to the hospital the paramedics are trying to resuscitate one of the injured, a young girl.

3. KENYERESI AND THE RECEPTIONIST

Tibor Kenyeresi arrives at the hospital. He was told earlier that his mother was taken in during the night and that she had died. He is asking the receptionist for help, but in vain. It turns out that the whole institution is in chaos. Kenyeresi goes to find an information board in the yard, which will help him figure out where he has to go. 

4. HOSPITAL SIMULTANEOUS

Usual scene in the hospital foyer. The boyfriend of the girl who died in the accident is trying to sort out the papers in order to get the girl’s belongings. In the meantime one of the paramedics is saying goodbye to his colleagues because he is in shock and cannot work any longer. The doctors and nurses pay no attention to the waiting patients.

5. WARD ROUND

Usual scene in the ward. A group of doctors is doing a ward round, they don’t take the patients’ complaints seriously. There is one who has been starving for days waiting for  surgery while his doctor is away skiing. A head hunter is trying to lure the resident doctors abroad. In the meantime men in black arrive from the ministry to make an inventory of the building with a view to a possible merger. What frightens everyone even more is an empty bed, from where the patient has gone home to give birth. The hospital can’t afford an empty bed because of the capitation and because it would involve a reduction of staff. A young doctor feels unwell but the head physician thinks he’s only faking it to solve the problem of the free bed. The young doctor calls the ombudsperson for patients’ rights. The choir sings a song about the paragraph on public health found in the Constitution.

6. CYTOLOGY

A paramedic comes to see her colleague, the head physician, to collect her medical report from him. She’s diagnosed with lung cancer at an advanced stage. The head physician gives her the facts, tries to calm her, but she gets more and more upset. It turns out that they used to be a couple and have a child together. The head surgeon asks to borrow a larger sum from her as he is having troubles paying off his Swiss Francs loan.

7.KENYERESI AND THE RECEPTIONIST

Kenyeresi returns to the reception desk because he can’t find the information board. It turns out it was stolen. The receptionist tries to explain which building he has to go to, but the numbering and the whole system are impossible to follow. Kenyeresi leaves anyway and starts to wander around the buildings and floors.

8. KENYERESI AND THE NURSES

On one of the floors Kenyeresi finally finds some doctors and nurses, but they wouldn’t talk to him. He gets a phone call and we learn that he’s a theatre director who was in a dress rehearsal when he had to rush to the hospital. Without him the show won’t go on. He’s trying to instruct the company over the phone, telling them which scene to rehearse (we see this on the stage as well), but his assistant keeps pressurizing him.

9. PARAMEDIC’S MONOLOGUE

On one of the floors, Kenyeresi meets a paramedic, who tells him of an unfortunate case he had earlier that day. He was called to a pregnant woman who had to be resuscitated but neither the mother nor the baby survived.   

10. COMMITTEE MEETING

Politicians are having a meeting on one of the floors in the hospital. The young doctor tries to tell them his concerns (shortage of equipment and staff, doctors going abroad), but the politicians still want to take away money from public health, as well as from culture. Suddenly, one of them falls ill; as a final advice he tells his son not to become a politician, but to work in theatre or become a doctor instead. I’d rather be a doctor then - says the boy.

11. I DON’T KNOW

The receptionist is trying to help an old lady who is lost and can’t answer any of his questions: which ward she is in, who is treating her, what’s wrong with her, what’s her name. She keeps saying “I don’t know”.

12. VOTE

At night the doctors are taking a vote on who should be given some extra morphine. During the ritual a song is playing with the Hippocratic oath as its lyrics.

13. BOLOGNA SAUSAGE

The husband of the old lady is coming to visit. He feels lonely at home and it is difficult for them to be apart, they are so used to each other. They are trying to sort out practical matters should the old lady die. Song: “good, but not good enough. If one in a hundred is good that’s very good.”

14. KENYERESI AND THE CORPSE GUARD

Kenyeresi makes it to Pathology where he would like to see his mother, but due to renovation there is total chaos there, too. The corpse guard shows him the corpses and tries to persuade him that one of them is surely his mother, but they can’t find her. If she is not there, then maybe it was all a mistake and she is still alive.

15. DRESS REHEARSAL - BYE BYE LIFE

Kenyeresi returns to the theatre where the actors are trying to put a scene together by themselves: it’s the Death song we just heard. Kenyeresi asks them all to come on stage for the finale, but during the song he feels worse and worse and in the end he dies.
