“People are terrible. They can bear anything. Anything! People are hard and brutal. And everyone is disposable. Everyone! That's the lesson.”

Petra is a successful fashion designer on the top of her career. She is over two marriages. She has had enough of being captured and under pressure.

She does not want to follow any standards, she wants to be free. She is a self-made woman.

Petra falls in love with Karin. Karin needs Petra. Petra would redesign life.

Rainer Werner Fassbinder is the dare-devil of the German film of the 1960s-70s. The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant is one of his earliest and most important works. The play and its film version are considered to be among the paradigm shifting works of their era in their representation of love, sexuality, gender roles and human relationships.

Premiere: 15 October 2014
